The 4th Jack Daniel’s Annual Rock Awards ‘08-’09 -- “Jack Daniel’s -- Rolling Stone – VH1 Tribute Nights”, is commencing with a Tribute of Peace to Jim Morrison at Elevate, Delhi on December 05, 2008, Jim Morrison’s birthday is on December 08, and it would be celebrated as the Jim Morrison Birthday Week at Jack Daniel’s-- Rolling Stone – VH1 Tribute Nights -- with JD, music and cake. This would be followed by a Tribute to Pink Floyd on January 10, 2009, at Someplace Else, Kolkata and the Final would be at Mumbai at Hard Rock Cafe on February 12, 2009 with the “Gods of Guitar” playing between awards. This would be the first time the JD Rock Awards Final is moving out of Delhi to Mumbai. Earlier, this event kicked-off with a Tribute to Beatles on November 06, 2008, also at Hard Rock Café, Mumbai.
The response to Jack Daniel’s invitation to performing bands in India continues to be overwhelming. For this year’s edition, 105 popular bands have already been confirmed for consideration so far.
In early 2006, rock music in India got a huge surge when Jack Daniel’s organized the JD Set. Featuring 5 of the best bands in the country, the JD Set created waves when Them Clones, the band that won the event, winged their way to London to participate in the JD Set, UK. The very next year, Jack Daniel’s took rock music in India to the next level by honoring the Indian rock fraternity at the first ever organized awards for Rock Music in India at The Jack Daniel’s Backstage Tennessee Annual Rock Awards. Earlier this year, Menwhopause won the Best Band of the Year Award at JD Legendary Mash and went to Lynchburg, Tennessee to compete with other winners from across the globe at the Legendary Mash event. The stage is now set for the 4th year of the Jack Daniel’s Annual Rock Awards ’08-’09!
